David Correa

 

BIO

Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, David Correa is a national recording and touring artist on Baja/TSR Records. 
Correa and his band have been entertaining audiences since 1999 with its passionate and distinctive blend of instrumental Latin Guitar World Fusion. Blending the Spanish guitar with Afro-Cuban and Latin rhythms from Mexico & Central America and a hint of middle-eastern influenced melodies. The live performance of the group is a high energy show taking the listener on a global music adventure. 

The band consists of a 4-piece with two guitars, bass & drums/percussion. The group performs the summer concert series/festival circuit around the greater Western United States. Locally in the Bay Area, Correa often performs with a trio or Spanish/Latin guitar duet in smaller venues.

 

Accomplishments

Between 1999 and 2003 Correa released three independent CD's. 
"Cascada" in 1999 (Zocalo Records) 
"Alas del Viento" in 2001 (Zocalo Records) 
"Incidents of Travel" in 2003 (Zocalo Records)

David Correa has toured throughout the west coast, northwest & southwest regions of the U.S. and has won numerous accolades and awards. Including 3 NORBAY awards for "Best Latin Band" in the San Francisco North Bay area three years in a row from 2005 through 2007. Signed to prestigious Baja/TSR Records in '06 and releasing "Rumba de la Selva" in 2007.

In 2008 "Gypsy Spice" Best of New Flamenco was released and featured the track "Linda" from "Rumba de la Selva" along side artists such as Ottmar Liebert, Jesse Cook, Armik, Young & Rollins, Luis Villegas, Behzad, Govi and Benise.

In 2011 Correa released his 5th CD "Eterna Primavera" on Zocalo Records.

In 2013 "Guitar Greats III" CD compilation was released featuring one of Correa's tracks "Amistad". Other artists featured on this compilation include Jesse Cook, Johannes Linstead, Incendio, Armik, Behzad, Novamenco, Luis Villegas, Lawson Rollins and others.

Tuesday June 16th, 2015 was the official release date for his latest CD on Baja/TSR Records from David Correa entitled "New Moon".

Two tracks from this release have made it to the smooth jazz national radio charts. The title track "New Moon" made it as high as #29 in a 12 week period and currently the track "Hacienda" sits at #37 after 5 weeks on the charts.
